After looking around for about a week on where to install my new cb in my jeep libby i wasnt happy with the ammount of "permenent" changes i had to make by doing so. So i made an attempt to install my cb, wiring, and antenna's without making any noticable alterations to my jeep.
I started by taking some sheet metal and cutting and drilling a simple plate. this was needed to mount the cb on my dash without having to drill any holes in it.
I then attatched my cb bracked to the plate and secured it with 2 bolts.
Next i mounted the plate using 2 screws in between the gap from the top grill and my dash. (not noticable if removed)
To run the power / antenna cable i had to remove the top grill and run the wire up to the cb. I also added some quick connect connectors to be able to quickly and easily remove the cb if nessisary.
Here are the wires after:
Finished look:
Mounting the antenna was tricky because i didnt want to go wild drilling into the body... so i chose to put the antenna mount on the spare tire mount.
As for the antenna install, i wanted to orginally go with a 102'' whip. That just wasnt practical to use all the time for me, so my other option was a 5 1/2 foot fiberglass antenna.... So i went with both.
First i removed my stock fm antenna, drilled out the threads and retapped it for the cb antenna. This lets me use both antennas at the same time and able to switch them on the fly in about 20 seconds if needed. Plus it works GREAT as a FM antenna and i like the tied down look
This was my first attempt at this, so im open to any comments or sugestions!
