Will I be able to fit 245/70R16 A/Ts on the stock 03' Libby along with 1.5" wheel spacers?
Must I pound the front pinch welds for that?

Thanks

Spacers will be what causes the issues unlifted
245 70s may rub depending on how much sag you have
If not sagged much will be ok but without spacers
Even with pounding the pinch welds will be issues with using spacers, no need for them

I have 245-70R-16s with no lift.. my suspension is sagged by about an inch to 1.25"... I dont have rubbing issues. I also did not pound over the pinch weld.

Your jeep may be different.

Lucky, my 04 rubbed some with 245-70-16s when brand new when backing up and turning the wheels

Should I measure current center (worn 235/70s) tire to flare now to check if I'll get rubbing?
what's the number I want to get?

simply can't afford the JBA lifts now..

Center to flare. Tire size doesn't affect that measurement. Stock the KJ was 19" center to flare. You're going to be somewhere under that. Not really sure what the "Magic Number" is for clearing 245s. Every Jeep is different.

Measure center of wheel to bottom of flare in front and report back
also what type of tire you want to run
Regardless if wanting to run spacers it will rub

Avoid the spacers for now. 245/70 worked for me stock but I also did a clevis lift. You will need an alignment anyways so that is an option to make them clear. Top plate and clevis lift will run you about 40 bucks then an alignment. Strut spacer plate set

Edit: and you will want them for a future lift.

Got mine with 245/70/16 and just replaced with a new set. Mine is a super saggy early 02 and no rub. No lift of any kind yet but I'm still over 19 all around. Not sure your results would be the same with the 03 though.

One reason its very hard to say yes or no that one size will work
My 03 , one owner / 81,000 miles was at 17.75 inches when I bought it last fall , so they vary a lot
IF you are at 19 inches then you have not sagged much at all since if built before April 12,2002 it would of been 19.75

Tire size seems to be a case by case thing. I put LT245/75R16 AT's on my stock 03 Renegade and I only ever had the slightest rub when at full turn (Only Left). With manual transmission I did not find it drove that bad but I found it to be stupid looking. So because I was un-lifted I went with LT225/75R16 M/T's when I bought a new set.

Mine is a Nov of 01 build. I'll measure again this evening but last fall I was just over 19 all around. Sadly, I'm pretty sure it is the original suspension. I bought it with a bit over 80k in late summer of 07. Now I'm at 178k and piecing a suspension together if things around the house stop breaking and claiming my "KJ bucks". Still debating going for the temp fix with the Monroe quick struts and a top plate since it's a bit of an experience to drive at the moment.

IF you were a bit closer make you a great deal on a complete full replacement. Have the Monroe Quick Struts for the front and new rear springs with Monroe Sensatrac ( same as the front ) sitting here
Took them in on trade and looking for someone close by to move em out :icon_razz::icon_razz:

Very tempting for a road trip. A few years back I drove out to Athens for a softball camp with my daughter. Nice ride but long ride from Frederick for me. I do really appreciate the thought but I've chickened out of ordering the quickstruts three times cause I really want to wait for the OME. I'll get there someday soon. I could just let the wife take it for a short trip to the store and I'm sure she'd say fix it now.

Okay so I have an early 02 with stock suspension ("prelowered") and I'm running the 245/70/16 Kelly ATs with no rub lock to lock. Also, I do not have wheel spacers.

In the front I'm sitting at 19" on the nose (both sides). Still at 19.5" both sides in the back. Not bad and even side to side!!! So I'd say if the OP measures and is close, this would be acceptable unless there are some other structural differences between the years.

Is adding 1/4" of lift with the plates worth all the trouble and work??

Well with the 1/4" and 3/8" clevis it will net you around 1" which could be what you need to stuff in those tires.

OK, measured. 18.5" all around (front and back). Also checked my UBJs - they seem fine, not broken/rotten..
tires - was thinking about the 245/70R16s General Grabber AT2 (if not getting a lift now).

I do want to have a wider stance though.. maybe small spacers? 1"?

Have to get 1.25 inch spacers which will cause issues unlifted.
3/8 inch clevis gives you 3/4 inch lift, 1/4 inch top plate gives 1/2 inch so will be getting 1.25 over what you have now
