well the 245/70/16 is only a little bit taller then the 225/75/16 so i thought i would save the mpg. i also live were i have to go over a lot of mountain passes so i really didn't want to lose any power with the power to weight difference. and my jeep had 215/75/16 so any tire would be bigger lol.

Or check the drivers door (Where it shuts) You can also look inside the glove box to see what other tire sizes could of came with your KJ!
Mine lists 215-75-16, 235-70-16-and 235-17-65.
Then do some math. Mine came with 215-75-16's but were up graded with 225-70-16 tires.

yeah i know what it came with (215-75-16) and what it could of had (235-70-16) from the factory but i liked/like how the 225/75/16 fits. its taller then the two factory sizes but not as fat. it also came on jeeps from 05 and up.

I just put 4 Firestone Destination LEs on my KJ in the stock size (225/75/16) after considering other sizes. I bought my Jeep for bad weather traction and the occasional country road. I am not going to pretend like I am an offroader when I am not. The new tires are far better than the Wrangler STs that came off. They firmed up the ride a little more and took a lot of sway out to the point of making my Jeep far less sensitive to crosswinds. They may not roll as easy because the average mileage went down 2-3 mpg as soon as I put them on but it also got real cold at the same time. I have to allow for winter blend fuel too. They also look real good and that particular size only comes in blackwall which was exactly what I wanted. 235/70/16 have white letters.

asking a few questions would have helped
looking at the BFG AT
the 225/75 has an od of 29.3 and the 245/70 has an od of 29.5
the 225/75 weighs in at only 42# and the 245/70 weighs 45#
the difference is minimal at best
you will loose some but very very little on the width
could have gotten the beefier tire and lost very little if any
just saying
