Hi,

i have a jeep liberty 2004 (europe version) and i want to disable egr.
i read in this site that pre 2005 models' egr can be disabled by blocking one of the vacuum pipes.

here is my question:
can i block my egr with blocking one of the vacuum pipes or the europe versions have different type of egr mechanism?

if not, which pipe should i block?

here is the pictures

i read that before but i've never seen my engine temperature rise above middle of the temperature gauge. i think temperature is not our primary concern in crd engines (it might have more effect on other engines)

i will check the temperature more often when i disable the egr and see how it goes

you can throw some louvers in the hood to help eliminate extra heat.

Why do you want to disable the EGR?

I believe the OP has a CRD so the whole EGR thing is different for the diesel gang. There's an entire series of mods for the CRD's that include blocking the EGR, different tuning for the PCM, different torque converter, change out the intercooler hoses, etc etc.

Makes quite a difference in performance based on the posts over on LOST Jeeps.

I have a 2005, but as far as I can recall, simply blocking the pipe to the EGR is all you need. I think Billwill from South Africa simply pulled the rubber pipe off and inserted a screw into the hole, then popped the pipe back on, so that the mod was invisible to a visual inspection. I don't believe that he's had any issues.

I also have both the GDE tune and the Weeks kit installed.

Incidentally, it's not that Euro means diesel, its just that more diesel KJs were sold here (and in other export markets) than petrol because of the reputation of the 3.7 for grim fuel consumption, and we pay a LOT more for fuel over here.
