M12 x 1.75 x 50mm? Hitch bolts revisited

I purchased M12 x 1.75 x 50mm bolts today(per another thread here) and they are way too big for the threads in my chassis for the hitch. Is this the correct size and/or is there an additional size that Jeep used?

M12X1.75X40mm is the right size for the trailer hitch bolts
Grade 10.9

yes you have to clean them out. Tom stated the correct size!

Even with cup washers, what do you guys think about using some thread lock? Red or blue loctite?

Might use anti-seize,NO loc-tite.
