Hello everyone,

This is so weird and I simply can't figure it out...

If I leave my 2005 liberty limited with about 140k miles idling for a while say 3 minutes or more then shut it off. If I go to start it back up within 10-15minutes it won't start. It'll turn over and crank fine but will instantly die.

If I let it sit for a few minutes and try again it'll start but it seems to have a difficult time doing so and idles/runs super rough for about 30 seconds then it is back to normal.

I thought it may have been an issue with the battery so I bought a brand new one. Still have the same problem. It does not throw a check engine light.

What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks guys!

Edit: ugh sorry about the title stupid iPhone auto correct.

Thanks!

Fuel Pump!

If it cranks the battery is good.
you'll have to check for fuel pressure
check for spark as well.

I fixed the Title for you while I was here.
The fuel pressure should be around 57psi..

The intake air control -controls the idle, and often can get gummed up/dirty with carbon, clean it while spring/ pintle is only in a downward position.
There is only 1 screw (torx) to remove. Best to use a 1/4 ratchet set up to break that one screw free, it is on there real tight, so push inward to keep pressure on the screw, while breaking it free.
The singular screw is on the bottom behind the hose, to remove it.
See POST # 10 here for IAC cleaning: https://www.jeepkj.com/threads/idle-air-control-no-screws.44826/
The jeep may also need some new NGK spark plugs- every 40 k miles.
When was the last time you installed new plugs in it?
