is the massive washer that comes with them required ? instructions say nothing and the boot doesnt stay on without it.
directions say you "may" need a washer and i didnt see anything about a spacer
it was my own fault, now i have a stuck ball joint to wrestle out, im my own worst enemy
I'm currently wrestling with a stuck ball joint on a different vehicle. Already snapped the pinch bolt off. Soaking in some PB right now. Much rust from it's past life in upstate NY. A few minutes and I'll hit it with the big hammer again. All I wanted to do was put in a new wheel bearing but back in 01 Subaru decided to make it an adventure. :emotions34:
haha im glad im not alone, i live in upstate NY so i feel your pain. Through the years of maintaining farm equipment up here ive learned that a 20 minute job usually turns into an all day event. Good Luck !:icon_mrgreen:
Ahh the great salty north. Guess it's cheap up there with the mines and all. Never had cotter pins fuse or disintegrate like that and I spent most my life up north. Already have a replacement ball joint so I just got out the big fork and hit it VERY hard with my 3lb sledge. Problem solved, steering knuckle out.
nice , yeah i whacked away as hard as i could basically all day and pb blaster and wd40 a torch , 3 pund hammer, 5 pound hammer and didnt even budge... trying to find the gear puller i have laying around somewhere as its my only hope and if not.... off to the shop tomorrow and they can sweat over it :Violin:
Geez I don't feel so bad now. Of course I'm still waiting for the Rust Eater and PB to do their thing on the pinch bolt that's still stuck in the knuckle. I've got my EZ out buried in it but won't budge. If it isn't free by tomorrow then I'll heat it. :favorites68:
