IT felt like new . Speedometer not working

I've had my KJa few months. Worked on the driveshaft, front end, tires, brakes and rotors, paint on rusty fender, windor regulator, back hatch so it closes, radio so it works.
It felt like brand new when I took it out the other night.
Coming home, the speedometer stopped working . So I guess its not quite a new car.
Looks like a lot has been written on troubleshooting it.
I'll start by checking codes , and then hope its a crusty connection over the rear diff.....

What year do you have , there was a change after 05

Its a 2004.
Of course speedometer started working again today...

check wires near body
that is where they normally go bad at
