Intake Resonator

I noticed my 02' KJ has an air intake resonator, but my 04" KJ does not.
What does the resonator do? And why did the remove it on later models?

Many changes took place between model years. ^ That is one of them.
Maybe techs found it was a PITA to access throttle body, and plastic covers, then went out of vogue? :gr_grin:

Just was there to try and make the air intake quieter, many cars / trucks etc experimented with them over the years

Its easy to just swap in a intake tube from a 2004-2007.

Thanks for your replies! I am parting out my 02' for spare parts, as the engine is blown. So if anyone wants or needs the resonator and hose. Just let me know?
