I've been thinking about bed lining my roof like many have... how do you go about prepping it and what liners should i use?

Personally, I would go with one that doesn't have to be black, like rhino or others that you can have colored to either match, or accent your paint job. There are a couple trucks here in Helena that have full out bedliner paint jobs... very hard to keep them looking clean because the surface is so rough, but I don't know what brand they used (guessing it was a cheap one). I don't know much about the different systems, but it is my understanding that as long as you don't have bare metal, you just prep sand the paint (like 220grit), and clean it really well.

I was always kind of curious as to why people did it too. I assumed maybe if they wanted to put their spare up there? I personally don't think I'd care too much about a few scratches or blemishes up there.

I scuffed mine up with some 60 or 80 grit sandpaper then taped it all off and wiped down the surface with a really good cleaner and applied the liner. I like Herculiner IMHO it is the best DIY liners.

what is the purpose of puting bedlining on your roof? do you really roll that much!!!???

I have a roof rack and rarely remove it to wax my roof so I was thinking about bedlining so that I don't have to worry about it anymore.

I have bedlined my roof with plastikote from Walmart. Bought gallon jug, and have a ton left over after 5 coats. I did mine because I had a roof rack and when I'd put tools and and other gear up there I dropped stuff on my roof a couple of times. I bedlined it to protect it more. Plus don't have to worry about cleaning it like I do the rest of the jeep really. I spray it off and call it good. You can follow the link in my sig to see the results. I love it.

^^^Wow! I see the SFA build is coming along nicely. Well done.

Thanks. I actually got to drive it today... from off a trailer and into a parking spot for the exhaust work.
