Headlight Issues!!!!!!!!

Replaced the drivers side bulb last week as the low beam went out! All was good until today. Now the DRL is out and so is the High Beam? Checked the bulb and replaced with the working one from other side still nothing? wiggled around the wires and nothing? checked fuses and relays under hood all seams good! Is there anything else to check? relays under dash? nothing seems melted or burnt!

Any help would be great!!!!

The fuses for the lights are in the fuse panel inside the cabin on the side of the dash. Also check you are getting a good earth to the light bulb socket.

I am having a similar problem with my front right blinker but haven't done any trouble shooting at all. How does one assure a good earth to the bulb?

I had a similiar issue with my Mothers Pt Cruiser, replaced the bulb still didnt work. Took to the dealership and they found the Body Control Module was bad, it is part of the underhood fuse box on that car

You need to first measure with a voltmeter that you are getting +12 volts on the bulb itself; first put the negative lead of the meter to the ground section of the bulb holder and positive lead of the meter on the bulb contact itself..in an ideal world you would expect to see 12 volts on the meter and the bulb should light up.
If you do not see 12 volts....leave the positive lead on the bulb contact itself and move your negative meter lead to a clean metal section of the chassis nearby. If you now get a reading of 12 volts it means your bulb is getting the required +12 volts but the ground is missing.
You can try trace where the ground wire goes to but sometimes it is easier to simply add your own ground by screwing a piece of wire into a piece of bodywork somewhere nearby and out of view if there is not a nice bolt going into the chassis nearby. Use a self-tapping screw and scrape off the paint to get a good ground. I have done this with the rear light clusters!

The BCM is bolted onto the rear of the fuse panel inside the cabin on the KJ.

The BCM does have some control over the lights as far as such things as arranging that the lights turn themselves off after a delay when you have turned off the ignition but most problems where... say a left turn signal works but not the right.....it is usually a blown bulb, a bad connection in the bulb socket or a broken wire, bad connector somewhere or a earth gone missing.

Easy to fix if you have the correct circuit diagrams for your model KJ and you know some basic Electricity Theory....or know someone who does have the right skills.:shrug:
