Hatch insulator film?

Does the KJ need the rubberized film it has in the tailgate door? If you pull the rear interior trim off (To get to the microswitch for example) You have to peel back the rubberized insulator.

Does this have to go back on? Mine ripped pretty good tryin to get it off and is no longer sticky.

Moisture barrier so yes should be something put back on
