Installed my Garmin yesterday but wanted it portable so:

here's how I did my install.............wire from antenna out of sight behind "A" pillar and left end of dash (between dash and door seal) than under dash to second picture straight up to unit.

I think you picked a great spot for the receiver antenna. Couldn't you mount it at different angle so no wire would show? You know it doesn't matter which way it is facing.

angle

after I put it there (using 3M double side foam tape) I thought I could have turned it so the cable ran "up" than it would barely show....stil can remove,, turn,,, and replace....

Change

Changed antenna routing to having it mounted (stuck) just above rearview mirror with the wire tucked under headliner to drivers "A" pillar and tuckd behind pillar trim down to bottom of dash.

Antenna barely noticable.

Where did you put the disk... I tried that and it didn't hold long.

Oh, and I'm just curious... why the need for an atenna. Mine works fine right out of the box with the internal antenna.

OK..Try this

Self stick disk has been inplace about 2 weeks now and still feels tight. I did make sure I cleaned the dash with alcohol before sticking it in place. If it does come loose I'll just go to the windshield mount right behind where it is now. barely have to take eyes off road to see it. Lower pic...you can just see antenna anove mirror and no wires show except for what you see in other pics.

That looks good. I mounted my Sirius (roughly the same size) on the left side of the gauge cluster and have been happy with that location.

For AZKj

I went with the antenna because it was cheap and I like the assurance of
having improved reception or at least less chance of weak or lost reception.

If there's a way I can make something better or more reliable ,when I install it, I'll do it.

I didn't really need to put the extra money in Silent-armor tires either but I like having "Good" rubber under me. Worth the extra $$$

just tried the left side and kind of like it. Now only about 3" of wire show at the far left side of the dash.
