I'm thinking about installing a gauge pod and a two gauges, a oil pressure gauge and a volts gauge. I found the group buys post about them and found the double pod for the a pillar in the liberty and found some mopar gauges I liked, they're expensive but I want them to be close to matching and definitely don't want any chrome on them so here are the links and pics tell me what you think. How hard would it be to install the actually instruments to read the oil pressure and volts? I know I could get the pillar cover actual gauges in but getting them to work might be a different story. How much would it cost to have someone hook them up?

I would get the Carbon Fiber face with the White Mopar logo, because my Renegade has dark gray dash gauges.

If the oil pressure gauge is mechanical you will need to run a tube from the block to the gauge which means you will need to make sure the tube is protected by a grommet going through the firewall and make sure the fittings are nice and tight. Otherwise, it is an easy install.
In my old srt4 I put a couple gauges in a pillar pod and it was easier than I had anticipated.

I would go with an electrical oil pressure gauge just from experience... I used to drive this truck out on the farm all the time that had a mechanical oil pressure gauge, one day i was cruising down the road and there was this pop sound and suddenly everything was covered in hot oil, yeah the fitting on the back of the gauge went.

It's not that bad of a deal on the KJ, just remove the factory oil pressure sender from above the oil filter and put in a T fitting to add your additional sender for your aftermarket gauge. I think it was either on here or LOST where someone posted pictures of their install.

For the voltmeter its easy also, just a ground to the body, in the interior if you pull out the kick panel where the hood release is there is a nice body ground bolt there, and then run a positive to a place of your choice. You can run it to the fuse panel or to the battery, it doesn't really matter as its going to read the same. A fuse tap and put it on a fuse thats ignition switch, such as the radio for example, and have a couple amp fuse to protect the wire to the gauge and you should be set.

Your also going to need a connection for the backlighting on both gauges, again a ground and then a power to a fuse, i would tap off the parking light circuit so whenever you flip your lights on your gauge backlights come on as well.

These are what i always use, lets you have a nice inline fuse for the added circuit and keeps your original circuit fused with its fuse. Unplug the fuse, plug it in to this and then plug this into the fuse panel. Add a fuse for your added circuit and crimp it to the wire to your gauges. Done deal.
