I was wondering if anyone knew the volume of fuel or miles travelled on a stock 2003 Liberty Sport once the fuel light comes on. I could not find anything on this in the User's Manual.

I know on my 2002 their is a 3 gallon reserve (what is left in the tank after the low fuel light comes on). Since they are the same fuel tank, I don't think it matters.

Light comes on supposedly-left 1 gallon.

Therefore your EVIC should state [Your MPG] miles left to empty.

My light came on this morning, I have about 13 miles to go, and evic says 19 miles to empty.. I will let you know if I get stuck today.

on bare pushing limits ( 2 miles to empty ) I was able to load 16,2 gallons into tank.

You dont want to know what happens when you let that reserve run out.
You must be registered for see images attach

Oh I forgot to mention that I leave my jeep running while refueling.
Who knows if that contributed.

2002: 18.5 Gallon Tank
2003: 18.5 Gallon Tank
2004: 19.5 Gallon Tank
2005: 20.5 Gallon Tank
2006: 20.5 Gallon Tank
2007: 20.5 Gallon Tank (Not 100% sure on this.)

In short, I too, could only squeeze in 15 gallons when the gas light comes on with my 2004...

There's been a lot of speculation going on about how large the tanks in the Jeeps REALLY are. Wrangler guys go through the same thing actually.

21.27 gal. of gas in a 20.5 gal tank??? That's just not possible. Something isn't right. That's why gas is so cheep there. They are charging you for gas you didn't get. This happens.

I'd have to agree with him. Gas stations pull really dirty tricks. If you don't believe it, well.... that's just up to you.

LOL, I don't because of the fact that I was out of fuel, completely, I dont see any suprise in .7 gallons of additional fuel over the listed tank size.

Not to mention whatever fuel burned off while I was pumping since it took like 10 minutes.
