earlier i wrote that i was concerned about a rubbing noise in the rear end.
it turns out that it was rear differential - had not been serviced by the
prev. owner and was very low on specific lubricant. dealer was patient
in sorting out the noises i was addressing and they finally found it.
seems that w/ the limited slip and other areas of concern, the lubricant
had basically used itself up - it does not trigger a light on the dash either,
but does make this cylindrical noise going slowly either forward or backwards. anyway - they took the cover off and found the problem.
also the bungie (bed spring noise) i commented about earlier has also
been resolved with new sway bar bushings - compliments of Chrysler
corp. They repaired/replaced at no charge after i went straight to them
about a vehicle making these kinds of noises at only 40k miles. they also
replaced the shifting mechanism that just all of a sudden started making
plastic to plastic scraping noises. the moron that owned this rig before,
just drove it, never did anything to it. it's a great jeep, just needed
some tlc - so i guess we are now resolved. thought you might like
to hear the results of our 2 visits to the dealer. thanks again to all
for your input on the matter. helped very much.

Thanks Debra for the post. Glad that you got that all fixed!

That goes to show that general maintenance is required.
