Somewhere between being sane and insane!
They will screw you, don't bother with 3rd party warranty's.Just save the money you would have spent on one for repairs if needed. The only extended warranty is the one right from Chrysler themselfs that is worth anything.

The one we have from Zurich is the one that recently paid for all the repairs on our '06. We paid $1500 for a four year 60,000 warranty, and the repairs we just had done were well over what we paid.

waste of money
I know a couple who got "screwed" buying them on both of their last 2 cars
got the 10 year 100K drove both cars to over 100K and neither had an issue
we have 2 Jeeps 1 that is 7 years old and 47K never had any thing go out that a warranty would have covered or been worth paying for one
the other is almost 7 and 65K came with the 7/70 and only had to use it for a new CV
it is having some minor issues but nothing will warrant spending the money on one of these "warranties" other than a transmission or MAJOR engine work
most repairs will cost under $300-$500 so for a $1500 warranty that would require
3-5 good repairs ,think about what could go wrong and what it would cost to fix
worth that kind of money?

90% of those warranty companies go out of business, and screw everyone who bought them. The only way you are not getting screwed is with one from Chrysler. I used to sell the warranties for a few places, well, they don't exist anymore, don't do it...

Most of those flyers/phone calls are scams...it's been all over the news. If your vehicle is high-mileage, you may want to consider them, otherwise just keep on top of the maintenance.

I feel more comphy with a "Factory Warranty". When that's up I know I am on my own. I just try to keep up with the routine maintenance and try not to abuse the jeep too much. At that point whatever happens ......happens and is on me.

I don't trust the "aftermarket Warrentys" Unless you happen to buy a used vehicle from a dealer with a warrenty maybe. But other than that when I get those "flyers" in the mail I just shread them.

All warrentys are really a "crap shoot" both for the buyer and the seller. Other than the "Factory Warrenty" at time of purchase, I don't bother with them.

Just my opinion.

Do what I do...start a Jeep Account...(tool box with a lock) and put 50 bucks in every week. This is sure money and you dont have to go thru all the hassle of calling someone to ask for your own money to fix things that break on your Jeep.

So where do you keep your toolbox....haha...(just teasing) I couldn't help it.

That is actually a good idea.

Thanks guys, I think I'll buy a tool box.

Buy a toolbox, and either put $50 a week into an account, or a couple thousand into an account (if you can afford) and call that your 'extended warranty' account. It's 100% coverage* with no deductable, it never expires and at the end of the 'warranty period' (which ends when you decide it ends or you sell the KJ) if you haven't used it, you get your money back-- or whatever percentage you didn't use.

Try to beat that extended warranty. Call it the 'Coolbreez' warranty. You won't find one with better terms.

*assuming you don't end up with a $5,000 dollar repair- and few people do. That's how the warranty companies make money. Their market research will show that rarely does anyone have that kind of a repair within the 'extended warranty period'.
