Is this drain plug some kind of sick joke?
I can't even see the thing let alone remove it.
I don't suppose too much coolant gets left behind if I don't bother draining the block.
The FSM procedure has a picture of it, although it doesn't say which side of the engine it's on. It also doesn't specifically say that it has to be removed, the only mention in the text is to refit it (if removed) in the refilling procedure.

The block drains are on both sides of the block, about 1/3 of your total coolant is in the engine block, the '02 3.7 KJ holds 14qts of coolant so that's just shy of 5qts left in the block after drianing the radiator.

But how do you reach these 2 drain plugs? Especially the passenger side which is almost completely blocked by the front diff.

Didn't bother draining the block. Just drain more frequently. Remember only use Zerex G-05 or the Mopar stuff.

I've got some stuff made by Auto Care or something similar from Sam's Club. It says it's the new type, long life (5 years or 150,000 miles), biodegradable, red in colour. Can be mixed with Chrysler coolant, but not the old green standard stuff. Will this be OK?

The liberty doesnt take the standard green stuff.

I would only use G-05 coolant but if it says it can be used in Chrysler engines it MAY be ok.

oh
I didnt drain the block when I swapped coolant. The now "mixed" coolant (some old with some new) is just fine, since you get a greater proportion of new to old.

I bought the Mopar stuff, I am not messing with coolant, do yourself a favor and stick to the gameplan on coolant.
