Thinking about cleaning out my throttle body and IAC valve tonight. Since I'll be spraying the cleaner in there, will I have to change the oil immediately afterwards? Is it worth cleaning if you don't have any idle issues or anything?

Thanks

HJ it is not like a seafoam treatment, so you should not have to worry about changing the oil after a quick spray in the throttle body.
Take a peak in the back with a flashlight...most of the time it is nasty. :icon_twisted:

I believe it is good maintenance to give the TB a quick cleaning.
Even though it may still look good outside, once you spray, you will see some carbon being removed.
The main benefit is the throttle plate or butterfly is clean and will open easily and you will have a Happy Jeep !

Add edit: Use MAF sensor safe TB spray cleaner only for the inside of throttle body.
The IAC has to be removed for proper cleaning. I did use lightly some carb cleaner spray,as it was stronger, to remove the carbon on/in IAC.

Pretty black. Didn't do the IAC. Maybe tomorrow when I do the plugs.

Any problems while spraying the goop in there with stalling out? I'm hoping to do mine soon and might not have any help keeping the accelerator goosed while I'm doing it.

You don't need the jeep running to clean the TB or IAC.

I think you're confusing w/ the MOPAR CCC which would need your jeep running.
Since you have the throttle by wire, you might need another person to hep you.

When I did the Throttle Body it was off. Reading the label on the can, it appears to be the same principle except you have the Jeep running and spray the whole thing in there slowly. I'm spraying it in the same place, though, right?

yes. With the MOPAR CCC, you spray into the TB.
You can try to get the straw under the valve plate if you like.
I didn't since I didn't want to risk the straw accidentally getting sucked into the engine.

Since the valve flips bottom half towards the front with throttle, I chose to spray towards the bottom of the throttle valve plate. You'll see the foam get sucked in.

If I remembered correctly, the can does say it cleans the TB as well but it's called combustion chamber cleaner.

Wish I had a borescope to compare before and after to look at how well it works.

On a side note, the difference between this and say, seafoam, is that mopar ccc foams up out of the can.
From what I've read, this apparently reduces/prevents hydrolocking.
I didn't rev my engine high enough that it stalled on me 3 times with my cleaning process.

You could give your intake a bath in degreaser if you really want it clean!

Depends on how far you want to take it. After doing this when swapping intakes I have my doubts if a little can of spray cleaner would do much of anything other than clean the TB. And I wouldn't want it being blasted into the cylinders.

x2. Although after spraying the TB cleaner it and cleaning it out, it stalled out a few times before it would run. :icon_twisted:
