I am getting an intermittent knocking sound from the left front that sounds like a bad cv joint, but would a cv knock go away under braking? When the brakes are applied the noise goes away and if I stop short/quick the noise will go away for a while which leads me to believe it might be a caliper that randomly sticks? Any thoughts?

I had a thumping noise when the bearing/bushing in the end of the diff was worn out. Check with a prybar and see if you can lift the inboard end of the CV up and down. I had about 1/4" of play when I decided to tear mine apart.

Also check your steering rack bushings. They wear out too.... the driver's side one deteriorates faster from messy oil changes.
