These chimes will continue to
sound until the vehicle speed messages are below the
programmed speed value, or until the ignition switch
is turned to the Off position, whichever occurs first.
Ummm... do they REALLY need to put the part about turning the key to the off position? I mean it's probably true, but where's the disclaimer about not doing that while moving? 8-[
Oh, I can just see the litigation from that:
Lawyer: 'Your Honor, my client was driving his vehicle when he noted that the excess speed chime was sounding, at which time he turned the key to the OFF position to silence the chime. His subsequent rapid decelleration and accident were clearly the fault of Daimler Chrysler, who clearly state that this is a viable method of silencing the alarm but neglect to mention that it should NOT be done at speed'.
Judge: 'Counselor, do you mean to tell me that you believe your client is so completely bereft of common sense that he thought he could turn off the engine in his vehicle when he was going 75mph and it WOULDN'T have serious consequences? Your disbarred and the case is dismissed! <BANG>' Yeah, not in this lifetime ](*,) Actually since these alarms are only used in the middle east I can see the sentence being that the defendant has his right hand cut off so that he can't get into a vehicle and turn the f****ng key at all, problem solved.
NOTE: the above was typed with my tongue FIRMLY planted in my cheek. Its late and I've been up waaayyy too long :-s
