just got one of these for a really good deal at the junk yard but it didn't have the thing that goes from the guard through the grill. so i installed it with only the two bottom bolts but its mad flimsy. anyone have any they don't need or possibly a pic and some measurements so i could make them? Anything would help. i need to get it anchored down from that point so it doesn't flop around.

Thanks, Chase

Is the installation instructions available anywhere online? Maybe in the how-to section... With a picture i wouldn't imagine it would be too hard to fabricate those?

I was going to say, get your hands on a contour gauge and
fabricate something yourself!
The times I have bought something secondhand and had to fabricate
parts to get them to fit my application...

Just spend some time on it and make a few templates out of cardboard
first to mock up a bracket and then go back and "fine tune" the bracket
so it not only fits properly, but also looks good.

And spend some time priming and painting them so they don't rust right away!

The pieces of metal I found in my garage were from an old bracket that held my ping pong table's net on. I used and "L" piece, cut it down a little and twisted the shorter end to make the angle from my rad support to the hole in the brush guard. I don't think it would rust as it has been rained on a few times (why we no longer have a ping pong table (warped)) but I'll most likely end up painting them black to not stand out.

but now that ryan pointed it out I think I'm going to go back out tomorrow and do some re-assuring before i actually drill. then next task is getting my shackles to fit back on. :D

A little further forward than I would have wanted but I'm pretty sure that wont be too hard to fix.

like center bar as in part that covers bumper or part that goes across hood? i like how the two tone kinda schema looks on my bumper but i would like to have the top part black. i think that would look good. Theres not really a good line to change color though

You are on the right track Chase.
But if I were you, I'd get a section of steel to make the
bracket out of instead of the (what looks to me like) aluminium.
Or a thicker piece of aluminium so it will be more rigid.
Also a little wider as well, as there is not much material between
the hole you drilled and the edge of the strap.

Also, if you elongate the holes in the brackets, then you will have
a little bit of foreward and rearward adjustability on the left and
right side of the brush guard when you go to tighten the unit down.
Ensuring that you have an equal gap between the grill and the
brush guard all around.

Just my ¢ 0.02 worth!

Cheers

All of my thoughts exactly.. this was just a temporary thing out of stuff i had laying around to see if i like it on there enough to spend some money to make sturdy permanent brackets and paint it. And I was going to make long holes but my dremel broke last month so I gotta get something to efficiently cut some metal. but yes your ideas are straight outta my head. :D

plus i gotta get some pieces of steel to reinforce my fog lights on the underside of the guard..

I'm actually thinking of getting the same brush guard Chase!
So I'm looking foreward to seeing the finished product.
Mind you, I'll have to cut out a rather significant section to
clear the winch mount.
