Hi I'm new to this I have a 2002 jeep liberty the past couple days while it started getting cold out my belt started making noise at idle and seems to go away while driving then making it again at idle. It also will go away if I spray dw40 by the alternator but will come back like 2 min later does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

WD-40 from alt to belt is a squeal waiting to happen with slipping going on.

Dayco 89254 is a good new tensioner assembly to go along with a new EPDM belt from Gates or a dealer belt is EPDM type.
While the belt is off you can check all of the accessory pulleys like Alt and make sure they are smooth and not about to seize.

Make sure you clean those pulleys good to get that WD40 off of them, don't want to mess up the new belt

No Problem....but TJKJ2002 is really one of the members to thank around here. (And Tom Too!)
I have not had to change mine yet but will do so at 75k miles or at the first sign of any problems.
It is an easy job to do (most say) so I will try to explain best I know..just make sure you got the plan on the sticker from under the hood for routing and eye ball it so you know how it goes back on.( a photo helps) The tensioner is spring loaded (where it makes contact at belt) and use a socket on the center tensioner pulley bolt to force it away from belt. You can then remove belt and then there is one bolt to remove the whole tensioner assembly.
For re-assembly, the main mounting bracket bolt is 30 ft/lbs torque, I would normally use a drop of medium locktite on that bolt too.
