Looks like your son had fun driving around there HJ.

You guys should meet-up there and get a couple of KJ's together.

I go usually 2-3 times a year... gets boring after awhile if you go too much.

Eh. Parks are just parks after awhile.

I wish we had the means, ability and access around this area to do more overlanding/cross-country offroading... like those lucky folks out west have. That's my ideal wheeling scenario.

Hey, we don't have ANY parks in my area. And most of the county/state land has been bermed-off because of the sub-humans trashing everything. My KJ hasn't been off tarmc in waaayyy too long:disgust:

Northeast, man. Lots of trails up in Nicolet and the U.P. Not sure how far it is for you to drive there... 5ish hours minimum for me, but well worth it.

No it isn't. There's no other offroad park to go to besides Badlands. Always exciting.
Amen!

Looks like it's about 4 hours for us. How's the wheeling compare?

Depends on where you went at Badlands...

If you mainly stayed in the dunes area (which is what it looks like from your pictures), it's no harder. It's all trails up north. Some of them are close trails, so you may risk some mild trail pinstriping - it buffs out. I got stuck in one muddy spot last year, but that's because I risked going while 2wd only. Fortunately I was smart and didn't go alone. Went with Jeepfrog and another local wheeler friend who pulled me free.

I like going up to Nicolet/UP - I camp on night (1), travel the trails the whole next day, and set up camp somewhere else the next night... pretty much traversing the area by way of forest service roads. Nicer than the black top. :)
