What is the least amount of backspacing can you run with stock tires and lift before things start to rub?

stock height no lift, sorry should have been more clear. Looking at some new rims 16x7 and would like to push the wheels out some. I know 4" backspacing is to little and things start to rub. Will 4.5 be ok or do i have to go with even more backspacing than that?

Yep no lift gotta keep the 5.5" of back spacing, maybe okay with 5" of back spacing but do not go over a 7" wide rim.

Dang, never owned a vehicle with so few wheel choices in stock configuration.

Not many vehicles anymore have much room for larger tires/ wheel combinations
The KJ is one of the tighter ones but easy to lift them and go larger
