Hello everybody,

I want to install a new tire on my KJ with 2.5" lift (245/75R16) and I was offered both choises :

1. Rim Triangular 7x16" with Offset = 30mm = 1.18"
2. Rim Triangular 8x16" with Offset = 0

What's the best choice ?

Thank for your help.

16 X 7 with 4 inches of backspacing
16 X 8 with 5 inches of backspacing
best choice 16 X 7 with 4 inches of backspacing
Are you using a full spring lift??

But with 7x16" and offset = 30mm, the Backspacing is equal to 5" and not 4".

And I use a JBA OME lift kit 2.5" with shock and spring.

5 inches of backspacing is the same as stock
so why buy new wheels with stock measurements unless that is what you want

Hello everybody,

I want to install a new tire on my KJ with 2.5" lift (245/75R16) and I was offered both choises :

1. Rim Triangular 7x16" with Offset = 30mm = 1.18"

2. Rim Triangular 8x16" with Offset = 0

What's the best choice ?

Thank for your help.

The first rim (16x7 ET30) has 5.25" backspacing. The second rim (16x8 ET0) has 4.5" backspacing. The first one is pointless as the stock rims have 5.5" backspacing, so between the first and the second, the second is better.

I run 2" lift with stock rims and 1.5" (38mm) Eibach spacers, bringing the effective offset (ET) to 0 (and backspacing to 4") with 245/70/16 tyres and NO pinch weld done.

While the spacers are one of the best and never caused any issues, I feel them a tad too wide.

On the other hand, 8" wide rim requires wider tyres for best fit (in my humble opinion, minimum width should be 255 or 10").

So, for me the perfect setup would be a 16x7 rim with 4.25" to 4.5" of backspacing - that's offset (ET) of 6 to 12. If I was doing the setup now and not 3 years ago, I'd get the proper rims, not the spacers.

Good luck with the install.

So, the best choice is :

Rim : 8x16 with offset = 0
Wheels : 265/70R16

But the size is really greater compared to stock wheels and the stock gear on 3.73.

NO, a 8 inch wide wheel with 0 offset would be 4 inches would stick out too far
7 inches wide and 4 inches of backspacing works good
or 8 inch wide and 5 inches of backspacing

To op, why not stick with stock? You wont have problem fitting that size. Less backspacing will cause more chance of rub. It doesn't look that good to have rims stick out a couple inches.

With 16x8 and offset = 0, the wheel stick out of 2" on each sides compared to stock wheel.

This should go ?

Get whatever wheel you want
You've been given the options of what work best so use that info, or don't, to make your decision

It's been stated many times before
For the price of good spacers you can get wheels with the correct backspacing and be done

I have noted, but here, in France, the price of the rim with good backspacing is very very expensive compared to spacers. :emotions34:
