auto transmission wont do anything in reverse

parked the 04 limited one night, went to go somewhere the next morning and no reverse. all the other gears work and it drives fine, it just wont go in reverse. all it does is rev up. any thoughts?

did it get better later?
could be a servo

Check the fluid level in Neutral when hot after a run if possible.
Do you hear the servo whine when put into reverse?
