Arrgh! Trying to install selec-trac in my 2003 limited

Took off the rear drive shaft, it & the command-trac (NV-231)have 32 spline interface. the selec-trac (NV-242) has less, 28 I think. Do I need a whole new drive shaft, or can the piece between the u-joint & the transfer case be swapped? Any suggestions?

Let me check in the garage, I think I have the end of the driveshaft with the splines and balancer on it.
