Loosely considering a winch (Warn M8000 is what I have in mind but open to other ideas). Anyway, my initial leaning is towards the Backbone mount- save some weight and money, and I'm fine with the stock bumper appearance wise. However, it requires some drilling and cutting (I think?). My question is if I did the Backbone now, could I safely return to stock tow hooks or replace it with an ARB?

Thanks.

Yep, just a few holes drilled. And cut the plastic bumper.

Then remove the detours and install a ARB

HJ, I'm in the same boat. Can't decide which direction I want to go - have the 'spring KJ mod disease' and my front bumper has a couple of scratches/gouges from incidents from the previous owner. A Detours would satisfy the need or a winch mount and tow points, but the ARB looks so much more MANLY :happy175:

The Detours requires some cutting of the bumper cover but you can still purchase those if you took off the Detours and wanted to go back to stock. And as far as I can tell the tow hooks can be put back in as well.

Check your PM's...

Bob

F.Y.I. The differences between the ARB & Parker Fab bumper are that the ARB is air bag tested and approved and it has turn signals and fog lights.

As far as the 05-07 goes though it keeps the stock lights. Airbag is another story.

I always thought the bumpers don't misplace airbag sensors...so they should, in theory, work the same.

I agree just noting the differences in case persons interested didn't notice. I'm sure there's probably more but I've only seen pics of the Parker Fab bumper so I have no first hand knowledge with it.

Comes down to the look you want, no comparison between a Detours and a full width bumper like comparing apples to grapes
I've helped install a couple of Detours, also ARB, RL etc
Overall its hard to beat an ARB, I mean mine took out 4 larger bucks, a Toyota Camry that had to be towed away and a GMC pickup that I shortened up a bit, only then did it have more than paint scratched off of it.
4 of the Deer were at highway speed one at 35-40 :icon_lol::icon_lol:
The Detours is a good winch mount and tow points but not much protection unless hitting exact center.

Yes the ARB has fogs and is air bag tested. But as said before, all of my bumpers come with turn signal options.

My bumpers sit up way higher and tucked in more than a ARB, which i like more.

My bumpers have been "real world" tested with serveral other members that i have sold them over the years. They have tested them as well as my wife testing it out around town hahaha.

No air bag sensors are effected with my bumpers, so your vehicles air bags work as designed.

If one knows how the air bag inertia switch up front works, they would realize that putting one bumper over another because of "air bag tested and approved" is a crock of crap. Did you disconnect the sensor or cut a wire while installing the bumper? No you say? Then it will still work. Don't believe it will work, then test it yourself. lol

While it may be unnecessary or irrelevant for some people others might think differently (Insurance Companies) .

People bolt a lot of things on their vehicles that won't pass muster if it comes down to an accident investigation and lawsuit.

No what I'm saying is that there are differences. That was the point of the post. But some want to take one point or another and roll with it just to be argumentative. Fun what you want just be aware of what your doing. Here's an example in another state if you dig into the law it's illegal to have a homemade front bumper made from pipe and some other things. Hit someone with one of those and you will pay.

Now let's see how this gets twisted.

If you really look at Ohio laws all front bumpers are suppose to be full width
no shorties/ stubbies allowed at all
