I am ordering some heated mirrors and while the inside panels are off, I want to get some insulation in there. Tired of freezing knees/from cold panel.
If someone has photos of the inside of both drivers/passenger side front doors I would like to see them.
On a second note I forget the name of the good quality peel n stick insulation.
Hoping I can get some of that stuff in there to better insulate doors. Got time off in Jan and want to head to -40 in the Rockies.
Would covering the removable plastic door panel on the inside work or both the inside door metal? Anyone insulated their doors for winter regions?
What works well?

I haven't popped the panels off my doors yet so I can't help you there - but I also want to get heated mirrors.

Where are you purchasing yours from? Are you getting both driver & passenger or just driver?

Thanks Tim!

Yes, I, too, would be interested in heated mirrors. I've also considered throwing some sound deadening around the KJ to quiet it up a little more.

Was really considering selling it, but my mind set now is to keep it as it's almost paid off. I'll see what's going on in the spring and make my final decision...if I keep it, I'll take care of a few additional things when the weather breaks :)

Ya I will be getting both sides of "power heated mirrors" for Jeep Liberty....
Just Google them lots available in after market. Just make sure they are black, as some chrome ones are out there too.
The Jeep sure is not the quietest from an insulation point of view. If you ever get into any really cold below -25 and above the door panels are just like ice and you can feel the wind coming in...
I had though about putting drains in and spray with polyurethane.
Look forward to see some inside of door photos without the liner to see how much peel n stick or other is needed. Some felt hair wool pad would really help in the back of plastic panel , but not sure how much room is in there with moving regulators etc in there.
Thanks for that photo but want to see what is below on inside of door panel.

Thanks... that is what I thought small voids. Keep pics coming!
Looks like adding thin material to plastic liner may be the way to go.
Not a heck of a lot of room in there to insulate. Have to be careful to spray polyurethane.
Professional consultation?

Try and find some peel and stick insulation. Put it on the reverse side of the plastic door panel. That will give you some cold reduction between the cold metal and the plastic. Seems like a pretty simple install you have planned.

I've always wondered how well after market heated mirrors worked. I really need to get some too. Let me know how well they work. Is the power plug set up for that? I think I read that all KJs have the wiring already done.

They come on with the rear defroster button. I know mine were wired for it, but I had more fun things to buy first. I think you may be able to get the heated mirrors and leave the housing.

If your KJ has power mirrors then it was pre-wired for heated ones as well, I have installed heated mirrors on both my 2003 Limited and my wife's 2004 Sport (both sets came from 2002 models)

The stuff to use is DynoMat.
Just make sure your mechanic* knows that once it's stuck to the surface it's being applied to it cannot be lifted and repositioned.

Given the limited space of a door and door panel DydoMat can't be beat.
It's usually used for sound dampening but also works as a thermal insulation.

Thanks for the Dyno mat idea Ryan. I just do not think that is going to work as it may be too thick, panel may not fit back on properly etc.
I know there is a custom waterproof foam (khanga) foam that is pliable that gets glued in place, used on the headliners for instance. Personallly I would like to see door sealed with plastic, then some foam back on panel. Will see what a trims shops idea is. I would like to install the mirrors and some insulation myself, but who knows at this point, too early in the idea phase right now.
