Does anyone here use those American Racing alloy wheels you see advertized all the time on eBay for Liberty, Escapes, etc? Do they stand up in the boonies? I need another set of wheels for summer all-terrains (have studded snows on my stock steel wheels) and would prefer alloys for the lighter weight. Any comments on these wheels would be appreciated.

I'm actually looking at the AR Aluminum Mojave w/Teflon wheels myself. I originally was looking at the Cragar 397s but they are 40lbs each where the Mojave's have a similar look at about half the weight plus they should be easy to keep clean.

Surfing the net I've found them at: http://www.wheelsforless.com/search_result.asp?Product_ID=398168
for $169.95 with free shipping which is the lowest price so far.

Moabs can be found on ebay, and a place where I've seen some real deals was in the buy/sell section of your local 4X4 club web sites. There are 3 or 4 pretty close to where I live.

How would a newbie like myself find Moabs?

I kinda lucked out...I sold my winter rims/tires from mu previous vehicle(Ford Ranger) to a guy who had a Rubicon. I told him I'm looking for at set of Moabs....he said he wanted to sell his...WOOHOO for me...

Like someone said, check ebay, local newsgroups, local 4x4 clubs,...

Good luck with your search.

...down the rabbit hole just ahead of Alice.
The Rubicon/Moab wheels are definately out there. Be patient and keep looking, I picked mine up locally. The guy wanted $500 plus my wheels and tires off mine Libby just to tow the jeep his Jeep to the junk yard. I kinda out waited him and ended up trading some misc military gear and my Libby wheels. Total cost to me, not including the cost of the liberty =; about $100. So the deals are out there, just need to be patient and keep looking.

Try http://honolulu.craigslist.org and ebay to find stuff local and then work the deal. In fact here's one in Honolulu for $1200, http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/pts/282268953.html but maybe you have something he wants or needs. Just need to ask. icon996.gif

Here's four on ebay. Scratched up but if your wheeling, who cares for the cost $250 + $100 s/h. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004...ItemQQcategoryZ43956QQitemZ330098320578QQrdZ1
