I am considering changing to the 160 amp alternator. Does anyone know what ones are interchangeable? I am finding that the the part number 56029-914AA is a direct replacement fit. This is a part that comes off of the Dodge Durango and Dakota's I think.
Any thoughts?

I'm betting Billwill is gonna jump in here to help me out - in the meantime I'm nearly certain the 160 amp won't do you any good as the BCM controls the voltage through the system. Since yours came with the 136 amp alternator you won't get any more juice from the higher capacity alternator.

Only the BCM in the Renegades will utilize the additional output of the 160 amp alternator.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Why do you think you need 24 more amps? I run a winch, big stereo, and many offroad lights and the 136amp alternator is more then plenty. On average with the high beams on and heater on high a KJ will only be drawing 40-45amps while running, less then half that just running with the lights off and the HVAC off.

In fact the rated amps and what they can actually put out are 2 different things and that is a mear 12 amp difference between the 136 amp and 160 amp alternators.

Thank you for the information, the last vehicle that I modified in any way was back in the 70's. When you could still buy gas that had color and octane.
