I'm getting paranoid about this - does the 2005 KJ Sport have ABS standard?

Thanks

For '04, ABS was a option, and I believe to be the case with the '05's. Except for the CRD's, which I'm pretty sure all came with ABS standard (at least the Limited CRD's did). One way to check is when you start it up. If you have ABS, you'll see the ABS light come on as it checks the system. It should then go off when the system is done checking and everything is okay.

Also, keep in mind that when you brake ******* a wet surface, you'll feel the ABS kicking in. Just try breaking hard a wet road when it's safe to do so.

Ok - thanks for the advice - I'll check.

What does the ABS light look like?

After a rainy day, just go like 20 and hit the brakes as hard as you can, if they lock you have no ABS, if they make grinding noises you have them. Hard thing to do, but probably the easiest way to determine. Just don't do if there are people or cars around.

You should have it.
The light just says ABS. Red letters, I think.

Yeah, as I recall it was packaged with the CRD, just like selec-trac was.

It was packaged that way in the US... we don't know if it was packaged that way in the UK.

I say, just go out on a road, rainy or dry. Brake really really hard. If you hear screeching and you do more sliding than stopping, you don't have ABS. If your brake pedal pulses, and you're actually stopping, you have ABS.

I can't see why you don't know if you have it... Heck, I had to use my ABS the day I left the lot.

Email Jeep and request a build sheet. It will say on there. Since I am posting my build sheet, anyone know what the Vehicle tracking system (4VL) near the bottom is? Also, it mentions a bug deflector, what is that?! I did not have a visible acrylic deflector on my KJ, so is it some part of the vehicle I would not normally notice, or did they forget to give it to me? I had to go back and fight for my spare tire cover since it was on the sticker, but was not provided. Even then they tried to avoid giving it to me. I bet they wanted to turn around and eBay it ;)

Nobody knows what these are on my build sheet? I really want to know what this bug deflector is more than the Tracking, but both are important.

I don't know about these build sheets, once they made a mistake and gave someone here a nitro-liberty mutant build sheet.. tracking system? I would question that seriously, more than bug shield..

Well, checked on the instrument cluster, and I DO have ABS!

However my tyres are getting on the skinny side, I did a bit of an uncontrolled skid when I merged into a main road. That WAS scary... No damage though :-$

I don't have ABS, and i actually haven't been able to make mine lock up the tires on dry or wet roads. When I first got it, I tried it, and it didn't lock up so I figured it had them, but noticed no ABS light on the dash...So I popped the hood and found no pump or fuses in the panel for it, and was really surprised. My brakes are great, stops on a dime, but it will not lock up on just dry or wet roads...I've spilled many items on the floor trying to get it to happen.

I dont really like ABS on snow, but I wish I did have it for rainy conditions.

I *hate* ABS on snow... you stop way quicker without it. I wish there was an off switch like there is for the traction control system.
