Hi,

The ABS light is on my 2002 UK Jeep Cherokee (Liberty) 2.5 CRD with 95k miles. Using a Maxiscan code reader, I have the following description:

3 RIGHT FRONT SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE
4 RF WHEEL SPEED SIGNAL FAILURE

Will the sensor require just cleaning or replacement ?

Many Thanks

Maybe just cleaning but I have seen lots of posts where owners have found bad connections or chaffing to ground at the location of the sensor.

I presume you have the Limited version of the 2.5 CRD? I have the Sport model which came without ABS...I would have prefered having ABS as I do not do any off roading and ABS is good for wet roads.

If I'm not mistaken, the ABS sensor is part of the bearing hub assembly. With 95k miles, and if you have not already changed, I would just replace the entire bearing hub assembly, probably $200 or so each. There is a good write-up on this site somewhere and I had mine installed in an hour, very simple. Make sure you order the hubs with ABS.
