Hi guys
My 06 Kj trac light, abs and eps lights are on so I got it scanned and the code was for the front right sensor. I went and bought it while I was removing the old one I realized it looked fairly new? Like the PO already changed it. I installed the new one and same thing. The fuses are good and nothing seems pinched. Could it be the bearing itself thats worn?
Thank you.

Do you know what the problem code # is?
Have you tried clearing the code?
Higher end scanners like a snap on Ultra may find more than 1 code.
Bill our electrical specialist may have ideas regarding further tests .

Yeah follow LibertyTC's advice.
The fact that a previous owner replaced that sensor may point to bad wiring in that area.

Is this a CRD or Gasser?

The 2006 CRD has a known problem whereby the main wiring harness goes behind the Fuel Filter Mounting Bracket and gets forced against the bulkhead which causes shorts to chassis or to other random wires.

Could be the bearing itself but lots of wiring issues appearing on the KJs lately.

Depending on what further codes you get you may have to climb into the Wiring Diagrams.

You can download the 2006 Jeep KJ Service Manual here....section 8W has the wiring diagrams with pointers to the physical components and there are lots of Theory Of Operation sections.

The main Index Page lists the DTC codes at the end of the list which directs you to the relevant page to start off your diagnosis...you will need a Digital Multi-meter..where they call for a DRBIII reader you will have an issue as that is what the Dealers use!

So the code I got C101F (Right front wheel speed comparative performance) And I cleared the code and it immediately popped back on.

Update I cleared the code with my friends scanner a second time and I've driven it about 50 miles and as not come back on. Is it possible the PO put some cheap no name brand sensor on it and that's why the code kept pooping back up?

So when I bought this KJ I noticed the front right rim had a good size dent on it like they hit a curb.
Could it be possible the tone ring in the hub was damaged and thats a contributing factor here?

This YouTube video is for a Jeep Compass, but the tech for speed sensors is exactly the same. Take a look at how Eric O. troubleshoots this and what the inside of the hub with the sensor looks like. Sounds similar to why you’re experiencing.

Thanks for the video! I just took the bearing out and put it on the bench. I took the speed sensor out and spun the bearing. I didn't hear anything but when I looked in at the ring a big piece of plastic which is im assuming is part of the original sensor is in there. So I'm in the process of removing it now. I just hope the ring wasn't damaged also
