Alright...sorry, I'm new to all this jeep stuff. It's the command-trac...not the select-trac. There is no full option on the handle. That's about all I know so far. lol
Are there any write ups that go thru when you're supposed to use 4 wheel drive verses 2 wheel? I know on only slippery surfaces you're supposed to use it, but HOW slippery and can you take sharp turns with it on when its slippery or should I turn it off?
2wd--use on any surface
4wd Part-time--Use on only slippery surfaces, mud, ice, deep snow,or when on relatively flat and easy offroad trails.
Do not use on wet pavement, wet pavement is still a high traction surface
4wd low--same as Part-time but when lower speeds and higher torque is needed like rock crawling and steep hill climbs and descends.
Your KJ(as well with 99% of all 4wd vehicles, not including AWD vehicles) use slightly different gear ratio's in the F/R diffs so the front wheels will spin faster then the rear to maintain forward direction.Full-time option has a center style diff(many versions) that allows different F/R driveshaft speeds to prevent driveline binding that Part-time 4wd will cause on traction surfaces due to the F/R driveshaft's are locked and forced to spin at the same speed.
