A/C Stays on in Heater Mode

On our 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited when the heater is on the A/C engages and disengages. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

A/C will engage on 2005 and up Libertys when the floor or either defrost positions are used.

You can either unplug the compressor or take apart the controls and tape over the little contact that turns on the A/C.

It is a feature - the compressor runs to keep the moisture in the cabin air lower. Defrost mode runs it so you do not get ice on the windshield inside.
