I've never seen the physical blend door mechanism, but if the vacuum system is functioning, what could be wrong with it? I'm imagining it has some sort of hinge mechanism. Corroded? Stuck? Just needs to be cleaned?

Thats what I was thinking.
Maybe its just stuck and that they could just clean the hinge and all be well again without a huge price tag, since my sister wants to sell her KJ and buy a KK since her KJ is 2WD and she wants 4x4 and a sky slider.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
The blend door on a KJ is operated by a electric motor, only the mode doors(where the air exits) are vacuum operated.

To access the blend door the HVAC unit must be removed which requires the AC system to be evac'ed and the cooling system drained, and of course the dash must come out.A very expensive fix.

I was kinda expecting this but hoping it was not true..
The dash is partically disassembled and the air bag was being removed when we left.
Hopefully since my dad use to work for the place and knows most of the people that have been there for a while, including the mechanic doing the work the labor won't be too bad..
