4wd shift cable problem

Hi guys, i have asn issue with the cable for my 4wd shifter. It has come adrift where it attaches to the transfer. This is the third time it's happened since we bought the vehicle. The first two times we just happened to be due foir service and had the dealer fix it. This is obviously a common problem, is there a more durable fix than the factory setup?
