I wanted to ask you fellas about a set up for my '03 renegade before i shell out $14516154 for it. I wanted to run either a 3" or possibly a 2.5" rustys lift and wanted to know if there would be any major problems running 31 x 11.50 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on 15x8 RockCrawler Streetlock rims with 3.75" backspacing?

Is the backspacing going to be a problem?
Is it a problem running 31x11.50 on a 8" wide rim?

Thanks

you might have a problem with the 15" rims fitting over the brake calipers, i think there is Only ONE type of 15" rim that fits otherwise you gotta stay with 16"

sorry for the downer

Those tire will be too wide. 265/70R16 which are essentially 31x10.5 and they require alot of triming and will rub no matter what is done. 31x11.5 would probably be even worst. I would stick with a 245/75R16 (9.6 wide and they still rub a tad), but if you want wider go with the 31x10.5; a 11.5 would be too wide.

Can I use 3.75" backspacing, or do I need to run 4.5" backspacing?

I just got the 15X8 3.75 and 4.5 BS rockcrawlers sent to me... it looks like the 3.75" will be way to far out. the 4.5 will be good, it will give you about 2 inches ball joint clearence over the stock tires wheels.

now side wall to side wall width is 9.5" for the stock tires and there is only like 3/4" clearance on the ball joint.

with these wheels (4.5"bs) that same size tire will now be almost 3 inches away... add an inch for 10.5" wide tires you are gaining 1/2 to 3/4" on each side wall, so that now leaves you with about 1-1/2" - 2" clearance. which is good for low tire pressure crawling where the side wall can shift side to side about 2 inches or so.

I will have tires in a week or so and tell you all what I think.
