In the light of the fact that there is almost no choice of tires in my stock size (235/65R17) I'm gonna look at 245/65R17 tires. My favorite tires are General Grabbers AT2, BFGoodrich TA KO, Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. All of them look pretty nice and also have snowflake symbol (rated for severe weather conditions) which is kinda important for me because I don't want to buy dedicated winter tires. So none of them have 235/65R17 and only Silent Armor has 246/65R17 BSL. I'd like to hear some opinions about running 245/65R17 on stock KJ from people who actually did/do have such size. Thx in advance.

I run a 245/65/17 trail cutters with a 3" lift. Rear was fine but I had rubbing on the front when turning. Its about 1/4" from the pinch weld also. With a stock suspension I doubt you will be able to run without moderate to major rubbing.

a 245/65/17 is a 30" tire, and the stock 17" tires are 28". Mine (when using a tape measure) are 31". So the size does vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer. You can expect slight power loss.

According to tire size calculator at miata.net:
OEM 235/65R17 - 29.0 in
New 245/65R17 - 29.5 in
I have some minor rubbing now with my stock tires and I'm wondering will those additional 0.5 in make rubbing much worse?

Maybe you can see if they are willing to install one on the front so you can test it to see if it will rub severely.

Not sure if I read that correctly ... you have rubbing on stock tires?

If that is correct ... anything you put on there of a larger diameter is going to rub. Maybe springs first .. then tires?
