Situation:
Two weeks ago, on start up, all electric came on but the engine wouldn't crank. The ETC light came on for a few seconds and turned back off. Tried it multiple times. The jeep sat for about a week and it started up perfectly, no issues, except the EC for the IAT code (P0113). It ran smoothly for about a week and yesterday the problem started again. Same situation exactly.

I checked the battery and voltage drop. It's fine.
Finally, I tried to jiggle the wires at the TB, started right up. I drove it around the property, turned it off, wouldn't start again. Jiggled the IAT wire (which also moves the TPS wires), started back up. The third time it happened it took a bunch of tries. Started twice since then, no issues, no further problems.

Questions:
Does the computer really require a reading from the IAT to start?
Or, is it more likely that I've got a wiring issue or sensor issue with the throttle body?

Would it be worth just trying to clean the throttle body... like it's getting a bad reading before startup? That maybe jiggling the wires was a coincidence.

OR -- are there other possible issues I just don't even know I don't know that would cause the situation I have?

I'm going to have to wait for it to do it again to test the connections and wiring with the multimeter.

Background: Jeep has run well for 6 years. A couple years ago I'd start to see EC intermittently without any change in performance (P0113 IAT). Then last year the ESP/BAS,ABS,traction lights started coming on intermittently. No noticeable difference in performance. No other issues. 138k miles.

You need to get a new IAT sender and you should also clean the throttle body and make sure no wires are loose or melted.
