Hello all,
New owner. Got my 2007 Liberty for next to nothing ($1k) with 111k miles and clean title.
Just got the recalls taken care of, and the dealership did an assessment as I had told them that the car rides a bit loud. They are stating the rear driver’s side bearing/seal needs replacement. I think the front need changing as well.
The stealership is asking for $2,800 to replace all the bearings.
I think I can tackle the job, I can find ample info and videos for the fronts since they are whole assemblies, but for the rears a bit confused.
Does the diff cover need to come off and the bolt or C clip removed in order to get the axel out?
Also are the bearings going to be needed to be pressed on the axle itself, or axle slides out and then the bearing replaced?
If the latter, do I need to get a slide hammer to get the old bearing out? Then just put the new one in?
Thanks in advance for any info!
