2006 CRD Transfer case

I need a replacement transfer case for my 2006 liberty diesel. I was wondering if one out of a Gas will fit and wondering what years will fit.
I was thinking of buying a gas liberty for parts. Will most drive train parts fit.

Any 242 t-case from any KJ(gas or CRD) is a direct drop in to yours,not so for other 242's from other Jeeps or the 231 command trac.




For the rest of the drive train the rear diff is the same but only for '06 and '07 model years due to ESP.The front diffs are all the same between all years of KJ's but 4 ****** gas models have 4.10's and 6 speed manuals got 3.55 gears while you have 3.73's just like the 3.7 gas KJ's.Trans is different unless you use the 45RFE out of a '02 KJ(your TCM will convert it to a 545RFE) and the driveshafts must come from a '06 CRD along with the front CV axles.
