Hello, I have a 2005 Liberty with V6. I recently replaced the heater core. I had to take the dash apart twice due to a disconnected vacuum line under the reservoir. I ended up dropping the steering column the first time and then removing the column the second time. The new problem I have is my horn will honk continuously and randomly while in drive. If I’m at a stop light, in drive, with the brake depressed, my horn will randomly honk. The horn will not turn off until I take my foot off of the pedal. This is both funny and annoying lol. I’m thinking I have a short or a bad connection. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting this? I need to find the issue before I get beat up by some moms in line at Starbucks.

What a STRANGE problem to drive with.

Seems to me that their must be short to ground most likely through the brake light switch located on the brake pedal arm.

That said, you are going to have to use the wiring diagrams from the FSM for your actual year, to locate and inspect the horn wire in the steering column and also where it goes through the firewall. You will need to follow that wire from the clock spring all the way to the firewall and maybe even the horn, though it is likely the short is caused by wires rubbing in the steering column bundle.

That said, since brakes are indispensable safety feature, while the horn is a mostly optional safety feature, I would recommend disconnecting the fuse for the horn BEFORE some angry Karen at a Starbucks drive thru shoots you. Or I guess that you could just wear a bullet proof vest.

Note that if in fact the problem IS a short through intermittent grounding, then disconnecting the fuse may also just keep your Jeep from burning down, if the problem worsens over time.

You can reconnect the fuse AFTER you find and fix the problem.

Just my .02
