Hello all, I have a very nice 02 KJ (no rust) that I bought new and had built because I wanted a 5 speed stick.
Only 76K on it. Last month or so sounds like lash adjuster tick on startup for about 5 minutes.
5W30 Mobil one every 3K.
Guess it could be a exhaust leak also, not sure?
What is everyone's opinion on replacing the lash adjusters and the new style rocker arms?
Or if it ain't broke don't fix it.
I'm thinking some preventive maintenance so I don't lose a rocker and damage the cam or head.
Rockerlocks seemed like a great idea but they are not made anymore.
No expert but, can do the work myself.

The lifters tick at cold, some worse than others. Mine sound positively horrid after a minute or two of cold idling and I plan to replace them. If the lifters stop making noise when warm, generally you don't have an issue. But if you do replace, make sure you get the updated lifters and rockers assuming you have a 3.7

Thanks, I was aware the rocker arms were upgraded in 2005 (smaller hole) but, did not know the lifters were. Are Melling JB 2271 the upgraded style? Yes it's a 3.7.

The oil galleys were moved down further on the lifters, I believe around 05.
