My 03 never locked when my mom and dad bought it. They never messed with trying to see why it didnt lock. I bought it from them and wanted it to lock so I removed the acc. panel and felt a wire connecter hanging so I pluged it back up and it locked.

If I were you I would just unplug the wire and then call it a day!

I am not an expert, I simply did it by trial/error. Common-sense always prevails! Reminder this disconnects ALL Open/Lock functions.

Remove tailgate cover – Modify wiring as follows:

HANDLE: Remove both/all connections from the handle; In order to function as a “momentary-switch” to activate the Lift-Glass.

LOCK: Disconnect the Tailgate-lock Open and Lock functions; Leaving the tailgate-ajar sensor connections in-place.

FLIP-GLASS: Disconnect the Lift-Glass connections; Leaving the glass-ajar sensor connections in-place.
This will isolate the activation only to the handle with the addition of a NEW HOT. (Note: I spliced into the cargo-area’s auxiliary-outlet)
