I have a question regarding an '04 Liberty. Assume the following to answer the question:
If the jeep is running (in the drive gear, but at a stop with the brake pedal pressed), and the key is turned to the off position. I believe I'm correct that the key will not release until the transmission is placed in "park". (Like most autos)
Here's the question, in order to get the transmission in "park" (while the engine is turned off), must the brake pedal be pressed in? Or, can you simply push the gear selector up to park without pressing the brake pedal?
