I was having the same problem, would move the coil to a different cylinder to see if it would follow it and it didn't, then I started getting misfire codes for other cylinders. Took vehicle to the dealer to have the ECU programmed with the latest firmware version (this was in 2010), one of the...
How hard is the shift between 1st and 2nd, enough to chirp the tires?
Your clutch packs are going to last way longer. Nice writeup. Which kit is this, SK604-42LE?
It's called electrolytic corrosion, typical between dissimilar materials like steel and aluminum, and salt to speed the process. I can remember trying to remove an aluminum rear wheel from a vehicle with 15 years on salt-laden Ontario roads and there was no way it was coming off.
And what do you do when they go? I wish I had changed out mine first, have a Rockfather II lift and was running stock UBJs until one let go on Monday in the MacDonald's drive through, had to call a tow truck. I've ordered some RRO upper arms and will have to wait for a bit because they were out...
I think they need to define "challenged by the slippery surface they were on" when referring to mechanically engaged lockers. I mechanical locking diff acts as a spool when engaged, so please explain this to me. Doesn't sound like a true locker to me so don't let this video mislead you.
There seem to be a lot of misconceptions out there regarding automatic lockers. I'm not saying that there are any here, but I would recommend anyone who has a chance to try driving a vehicle with one installed. You won't even notice it, except in really tight low speed turns, i.e. in a parking...
Hence my previous question regarding clearances.
Again it's sad to see someone having had a bad experience with a product. All I can say from what goes on with a group of guys I wheel with up here in a variety of different vehicles, where the smallest tire that is run is a 36, nobody has ever...
Here's a post of mine from another forum, we were also talking about batteries.
Optima batteries:
Red top - for high but short loads. i.e. starter motor or winch
Yellow top - deep cycle for extended drain, high vibration
Blue Top dark grey case - marine deep cycle, extended drain, long...
I'd run an isolator, I'll put up details once I find them, I have a doc somwhere.
Charges both but keeps them separate. In my other vehicle one battery only runs the starter, the other everything else. That way if you run one down you can always start your motor.
Keep in mind that synthetic line loses strength rapidly as temperature increases, which can happen very quickly when the winch brake is internal, typical of most winches where the brake is in the drum the line is wrapped around. www.winchline.com offers a combination line, with high temp...
I went for the extra length on mine, and I've gotten a lot of use out of those extra feet. I always use a snatchblock where line speed isn't important, which is almost all of the time, so those feet come in pretty handy.
I wonder what the cross shaft clearance was, it's set using the thrust washers.
Aussies have a fantastic reputation, it's too bad you had a negative experience.
Interesting that he has broken an Aussie, they are usually the strongest component in the drivetrain. I´ve had a TrueTrac blow up but not an Aussie yet. One of the biggest tests is axleshaft snapping, the shockload is tremendous and Detroits, Truetracs and Lock Rites quite often don´t survive...
