The brakes on the KJ are super easy to manage and erroneously maligned.
The emergency brake is more than adequate and the self adjuster does work.
If work is done, adjust until it is near enough only.
THEN:
Find a place where you can roll backwards slowly and safely.
Roll backwards...
Agree with battery prognosis - not enough juice.
Lancer also had his stop in mid travel recently - battery was defintely on the out as well as a 15A fuse but I don't know exactly which one.
Perhaps a PM to him may confirm which fuse.
The battery and the fuse went out together.
Just to clarify:
I went over to Lost to have a look and in the setail view of the engine bay, the item that has 4 arrows to it (blue label) is that which I refer to as the boost sensor.
Different part of the world - different term maybe.
I stand corrected re offroad modification.
To clarify the questions asked:
I have only referred to the MAF and the Boost Sensor. They need regular cleaning with the right cleaners. Boost is way more robust than the MAF. The MAF has a fine platinum wire in it and a resistor. Harsh solvents...
It's even easier than indicated:
They do have a self-adjuster although if it is a long way out you need to follow the instructions per the thread.
Of course, repeating the following a number of times can get a result.
First:
1 Find a slight incline and allow the Jeep to roll backwards...
Gates emailed me with info re their new ribbed belt alignemnt kit.
Nice - laser and target designed to sit into the ribs of the pulleys to check alignments around the system, belt wear indicator (but these are free from Gates - or were a short while ago and a few other bits'n pieces that will...
I see this one this way. Hope it helps.
I usually break it down to components that are related to the engine type(in this case CRD) so the code into its components yields:
P = powertrain
0 = generic OBD II
1 = Air/fuel metering system
46 = possibly the turbo/boost controller.
This...
Just a suggestion a little out of left field but is there solidified muck in the bleed nipple? Have had this resistance to bleeding brake systems before. It can sometimes pack into the vents on the nipple and prevent a successful bleed of a wheel cyclinder.
Can take some cleaning for sure...
I've had one fitted from new.
These things are great in really dusty conditions and they work on water so that you don't have to run the wiper nearly as much. You can actually see the layers of dust shear off the window before they get so thick you can't see through the rear window. Water...
Interesting read.
I hope I haven't missed these points I make below, as already made.
Didn't see an answer to the filter always question.
Oil filter + oil > Yes always.
We have stuff called "bulldust" it is loaded with microfine silicates and it goes everywhere. It is abrasive as all get...
I keep forgetting how much cheaper parts like tensioners, belts and oil are for you blokes. Sorry.
Here you sell your soul to do a job like we are discussing in this thread.
Yes, we are importing madly and try not to go near Jeep dealers for supply if we can help it at all but RH drive...
May have been pulled to that position when the belt broke but????shouldn't happen but it may be a one-off. That belt breaking is one heck of a shock. If it's free and doesn't feel notchy in its action now you may well be ok.
Have you checked the alignment of the pulleys with a straight edge...
